In October of 2003 the Carrabba's Team Blythe team went on the road to Florida for the Fort Lauderdale Grand Prix. The city rolled out the red carpet for the race teams. The spectators lined the beach for some good racing on the open waters. The day was beautiful and the sun was shinning. People were able to cool off in the ocean and still see the race. There was a little excitement as a couple boats broke a part because of the rough conditions in the Atlantic Ocean. The racers were rescued and no major injuries were sustained.
Bonnie Blythe throttled the boat and Todd Blythe drove the
boat in Fort Lauderdale. The husband and wife team had a respectable
second place finish with only a half a boat length deciding
the victor. All in all the team was very pleased.
This race was covered by FOX's SpeedVision TV. They had plenty
of cameras and crew to cover the event. Be sure to check your
local listings for air time.
Special thanks to Mike from Pompano Beach Carrabba's for
being a super host to our team. The boat was on display outside
his restaurant for car traffic and foot traffic to get an
up close look at the super fast boat. The crew had a chance
to meet fans and sign autographs at the restaurant. We look
forward to next year and will race for the checkered flag!
