Carrabba's Team Blythe Goes to the World Championships!
On November 18-24, 2002 Carrabba's Team Blythe traveled to Key West, Florida to participate in the offshore racing World Championships. Over the week there were over 100,000 race fans that stopped by the race venue to watch the offshore races, check out the boats on display and to shop the vendor's tents. The team thought they had the race all wrapped up and had crossed the finish line first but when the next boat came by three minutes later and continued on around the course, the team knew something was wrong. They realized in the lap count there was a problem during the race and finished the race one lap early. The team ended up in third place due to this mishap, but that is all part of racing. You can be sure next time the lap counter will get it right. Todd Blythe drove the boat in the Worlds and the throttle man and lap counter was David Flack. Despite the third place finish the team had a great time in the Keys. The entire team was so pleased with the five checkered flags it brought home in the 2002 race season and are looking forward to doing even better in the 2003 season.
A special thanks to Dennis from Atlantic Shores Resort for his hospitality during our stay in the Keys. The resort was situated beachside and was the perfect proximity to the race venue. The resort had beaches, pools, restaurants and bars to occupy the team when they were not racing and is situated on Duval street, where all the "action" is!
